Monkey D. Luffy attacks often have something to do with experiences he’s had, whether we are aware of it or not. The Gomu Gomu no Pistol Attack is an example. He could have adapted the attack from his once-remark, “My hit feels very much like a gun.”

Luffy may have seen Lucky Roo’s gun while he attempted to defend Ace from a bandit attack that tried to injure Shanks. What about Gomu Gomu Bazooka? Luffy believed that Sabo had been killed by the bazooka attack at that point. Bazooka, Luffy’s last move to defeat the enemy until the time-skip happens, is Luffy’s final move. This technique had already caused many casualties.

The Storm attack technique was then used. It was an adaptation of his experiences in Alabasta which hadn’t rained for many years. Crocodile was finally defeated by Luffy using a storm. Luffy’s Haki attacks were also derived from his experiences during the time-skip at Rusukaina. Many of the names of his Gear 4 come from the names he met there.

King Kong Gun, Leo Bazooka and Python are just a few examples. The Red Hawk attack is even adapted from Ace’s name, which is also a sign of respect. What about Luffy’s latest attack, Red Roc, then? Red roc is not Gear 4, but Gear 3.

Gomu Gomu No Red Roc is Luffy’s Red Hawk in Gear 3. Roc is a bird of prey similar to Hawk, also known as an eagle. Roc is a huge bird of prey from Middle Eastern mythology that can eat an elephant. There is a theory that Luffy’s attack Red Roc was named after Raizo.

Oda presented a two-page story that mentioned Raizo. This shows that Luffy still loves him. Luffy remembers the pain, suffering, and death Kaido caused, as well as all the other things Kaido did to him. Red Roc could have had something to do when he was kidnapped and tied up at Zou.

Raizo is shown tied with a Poneglyph. It turns out it isn’t an ordinary Poneglyph but a Road Poneglyph. The Road Poneglyph’s color is red. The Poneglyph is also a creation by the Kozuki family. The Red Roc attack was likely a tribute to Ace, Raizo and all Red Scabbards – generally, all of Wano.

We saw flashbacks of Luffy’s attack on Kaido in Chapter 1000 yesterday. The battle that opened was “dedicated” for all those who were affected by Kaido. It’s also interesting to note that Ace destroyed Kaido’s dragon statue with the same attack as Luffy.
