WHO History and Facts
The WHO (World Health Organization), was established on 7 April 1948 (now World Health Day), as part of the United Nations.
The World Health Organization’s mission is to work around the globe to improve health, safety, and protect vulnerable populations. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of more people.
The W.H.O covers 194 countries.
Geneva is its headquarters.
Six regional are located primarily in Africa, Europe, South East Asia and America.
There are 150 offices in the world that have at least 7,000 employees.
Who and how does finance WHO?
Funding for WHO are the membership fees paid by the countries participating in the project. These fees are determined according to the country’s wealth and population. There are also voluntary contributions from individuals and charitable foundations. These amounts can vary from year to year.
The United States is now the largest financial donor of WHO. Its contributions make up almost 15% of all funding. China follows closely. The United States provided $ 553 million in funding to WHO in 2019, while China received almost ten times that amount.
Great Britain, Japan, and Germany are also among the countries with the highest contributions. In 2016-2017, almost $ 650million was contributed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This was second only to the United States.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the World Health Organization ( W.H.O.) recommends that everyone wash their hands regularly. Use soap, water, or an alcohol-based liquid to clean your hands frequently. Any viruses may be killed by washing your hands with soap, water, or an alcohol-based cleanser.
Hand washing can help you stay healthy and prevent the spread from respiratory infections and diarrhea to others. Germs can spread easily from surfaces and other people.
1. Unwashed hands can be used to touch your eyes, nose and mouth.
2. Unwashed hands are not safe to use when you prepare or eat food or drinks.
3. Contacting contaminated surfaces and objects.

7 steps to properly wash your hands according to W.H.O
W.H.O states that washing your hands takes between 20 and 30 seconds. To prevent bacteria, viruses and germs from infecting your hands, follow these 7 steps according to W.H.O.
1. Use your hands to wet the soap product.
2. Rub the soap product into your hands by rubbing them together.
3. Place the palm of your right hand on the back side of your left hand, with interlaced fingers. Repeat the process.
4. Place your right palm on top of your left palm, keeping the fingers interlaced.
5. The left and right hands are clasped together and the fingers linked so that soap touches the nails and base of the fingers.
6. Use the right hand to rub the thumb of the left thumb, and vice versa.
7. Place the thumbs of your right hand on the palms of your left hand, and vice versa. 8. Rinse your hands and let dry. Your hands will be free from dirt and bacteria once they are dry.
You cannot clean your hands with soap and water if there are certain conditions. A hand sanitizer is another option.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends hand sanitizers. It must contain at least 60% alcohol. They can reduce the amount of germs in your hands very quickly. Hand sanitizers can’t eliminate all germs. They’re not as effective at cleaning your hands.
Hand sanitizers cannot remove oil and dirt from hands. It is very easy to use a hand soap. Apply the gel to your hands and scrub your hands between your fingers and fingers until dry.
